What makes the FA Cup special in football? The history? The tradition?
The prestige? Nope its none of them its the giant killing by small
teams on the premiership football clubs that we all love (unless you
support the losing team obviously). This year is no exception after
League One team Oldham knocked Everton out of the FA Cup. Everton are
having a seriously good run of things this year in the premiership
currently placed 6th just above Aston Villa on goal difference nut
there dreams were dashed by Oldham with a strike by McFadden on the
stroke of half time.

After the game Everton manager David Moyes said "We've got a good squad and all of them have played
Uefa Cup games, it was near enough the same
sort of midfield we had at Alkmaar in our last game, so I don't think
it was a vastly weakened team in any way at all. In fact it was a
strong team. We started quite well but we missed
chances in the first four or five minutes and never got to grips with
it. We missed a lot of chances and it was a lack of quality. We didn't
play well enough and there was no conviction in our play."
So Everton are the first 'big' team to be knocked out of the FA Cup and I'm sure a few will follow. My local team Southend United who also won today 5 - 2 against Dagenham and Redbridge so hopefully we'll get a chance to give Manchester United another run for there money, although going by our current form a repeat is highly unlikely
