Portsmouth have beaten Cardiff City by a single 37th minute goal from Nigerian striker Kanu to claim the FA Cup at Wembley. The game shown on BBC television wasn't a classic by any stretch of the imagination although Portsmouth  and Harry Redknapp won't care having managed to get there hands on some silverware this season which is there first since 1939.

I wouldn't imaging Cardiff City would be too disappointed either after giving a good account of themselves against the Premiership side. After the game Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp said "It's fantastic. It's a dream come true to come and win the FA Cup. For my family, the fans and the players it has been a good day. Cardiff put us under a lot of pressure and we had to deal with difficult situations. My defence was fantastic."
