Right the man blog has been quiet again for which I can only apologise as last week I moved into my first bachelor pad. Yes yes I know its the wrong time to buy a first property, prices are going up for food and fuel and the chance of recession is looming over us. But to be honest I don't care as the feeling of moving into my first flat is just the mutts nuts and its not and investment its a home! As such I've had no internet (and no television for that matter) so haven't had a chance until today to update the blog.

So as soon as I got into the flat I did the typical thing and started stripping the place down lol. I've seen people do this before and the places remain stagnant and look like and unfinished building site for months. I've fortunately been rather lucky and have stripped, ripped, plastered, sanded, filled, white washed, undercoated, fitted electrics and lighting for the bedroom within a week! Apart from the final coat of paint and laying the carpet (which will happen over the next two days) the bedroom is pretty much finished. Not bad for a week when you consider the conservatory has also been painted white (it was a garish red colour previously, as was the bedroom) the seals for the windows replaced and so on.
In my humble opinion my bachelor pad is coming along nicely and decorating hasn't cost a vast amount of money (yet). A few things I have to mention, one is B&Q is 10 times better than Homebase! Southend has a massive B&Q and its full of ideas and good products that are well priced although its possible to spend a ridiculously large amount of money in there too! Homebase is just boring in comparison even though the value matt white paint they sell for about £10 for 10 liters has served me well its doesn't do much else! I was particularly disappointed with the pendant light I purchased from Homebase which I got half price was as flimsy as digestive biscuit dunked in coffee for half an hour! It does look good in the bedroom (everyone should have a funky light somewhere in their house), but get close up and you can tell its cheap and lacking in quality!!
Right I've ranted on about my new bachelor pad and first home for long enough, time to crack open the Dulux Sweet Caramel paint and finish painting the bedroom before the carpet is fitted tomorrow. I'll try and upload some pictures on this blog as soon as I have access to the internet at home.
