Malm Bed From Ikea.

As I've said on the boys blog several times before I recently purchased my first bachelor pad. So being a boy my first job was to decorate the bedroom which I done pretty fast (with the help of a plasterer friend). So I had to find myself a funky bed that I can get the likes of Sara Jean Underwood, Kendra Wilkinson and Giselle Bunschen naked (yeah I should be so lucky)! Originally I was going to go for funky designer modern contemporary faux leather type bed. They do look cool on the bed shop websites but not as good when you see them in the flesh, plus I was starting to run out of money so went for the cheaper wooden option and got myself a Malm Bed from Ikea.

I'm actually pretty glad I did get the Malm bed now, at just £90 for a kingsize its an absolute bargain. The mattresses from Ikea are pretty good too and again relatively cheap when compared to most bed shops. It took me about 30 mins to put the Malm bed together following the instructions and just on my own, although Ikea recommend two people to build it I still found it pretty easy going. I got my Malm bed in oak veneer which looks really nice in the bedroom especially with the matching Malm oak veneer storage unit Ikea do. I've put the unit next to the bed which is the same height with a ball shaped lamp and a little indoor plant both also from Ikea and I personally think it looks funky and modern

All in all I think the Malm bed from Ikea looks good, cheap but sturdy and well made, easy to assemble and comes in a decent selection of finishes. Highly recommended.

Edit: Updated to add picture of the Malm bed from Ikea.

Is Malm bed sturdy though? Have you been putting a lot of "force" into it? I only ask because my fiancee and I were thinking about getting one but we weren't sure about the sturdiness, and we like to get "busy" at least 3 times a week. Wasn't sure if after awhile all of that "force" would start to wear the bed down!

Hi Shana sorry about the delay in replying but as you can see from my latest post I've been in Germany for a little bit. Anyway Yes the bed is very sturdy and I don't this you and you other half will be able to break the Ikea Malm bed. I've had mine since July and being a bachelor have put it to good use and it doesn't even squeak. I also have a friend who is a bit big (18 stone) and he's always saying how good his malm bed and ikea mattress is for him and his wife (I think he may have broken a couple in the past).

I've also had a couple of emails from people asking if I can upload the instruction manual for putting the Ikea Malm bed together but I'm afraid I threw it away after I finished building it. If I come across another one I will put it on manblogo ;).
